A Little Story
There once was this game a friend brought into work. The board was an old cardboard box and the grid drawn on it didn’t have two squares the same dimensions but even so it was loads of fun.
The group has since gone our separate ways (long live soup club) but the game never left my mind.
Then I found myself without work for a while and wanted something to do. Here was my chance to be able to play that game again! My day job is to make apps for iPhones so why not use that to my advantage and make something simple to allow us to play the game again.
Now I am the kind of person that has a million different ideas for apps or businesses and some of them I consider to be very good but the problem time and time again is actually following through with it before a new idea comes along. What I wanted to do with this is just get it to the point where I could release it even if it wasn’t perfect or full of all the cool things I want to do because I wanted to actually complete something.
I am pleased to be able to share with you Five Straight!
Five Straight
Five Straight is a card/board game where the goal is for your team to get 5 in a row. Think like sequence or connect four if you have ever played those. You can play any card in your hand on the number shown or any free number that is greater than it. This means low numbers have extraordinary power as they can be played anywhere but also occupy the space on the board that gives the most opportunity to make five straight.
You can play offline with your own deck of cards (0-99) or online with friends–no deck necessary.
The game is free for now but you can customize your markers if you wish!
The little eyes are pretty great!
